Texas Instruments DRV8844A Quad Half-Bridge Driver
Texas Instruments DRV8844A Quad Half-Bridge Driver is a four-channel, individually controllable device for a wide range of applications. The DRV8844A supports up to 2.5A peak or 1.75A RMS output current at 24V and 25°C, provided that proper PCB heatsinking is implemented. The output stage of the driver combines N-channel power MOSFETs configured as four independent half-bridges, enabling the device to drive two DC motors, one stepper motor, four solenoids, or other loads. Each output can be an LS switch (low-side switch), an HS switch (high-side switch), or a push-pull output driver. Separate inputs are provided to control each 1/2 H-bridge independently. To permit operation with split (positive and negative) power supplies, the logic inputs and nFAULT output are referenced to a separate floating ground pin.
The TI DRV8844A Quad Half-Bridge Driver supports the connection of sense resistors on each half-bridge, qualifying for current sensing at the system level for applications such as motor control. Internal shutdown functions are provided for overcurrent protection, short-circuit protection, undervoltage lockout, and overtemperature protection.
